Hairy Nosed Otter

Note: Very little is
known about the hairy nosed otter. It is endangered and incredibly
rare. I will be contacting researchers who study
these otters for more information.
Identification
Size: The Hairy Nosed
Otter is 105 to 133 cm long from heat to tail. The tail alone
is 35 to 50 cm long.
Color: Dark reddish brown, with a white throat, lower jaw and upper lip.
Nose: The nose is completely covered in hair.
Feet: Webbed, with strong claws.
Fur: Fine and sleek. The Hairy Nosed Otter's guardhairs are 1.2 to 1.4 cm long,
and the underhairs are 7 to 8 mm.
